Ephemeral Veil

We wrap ourselves in what cannot be held.
Not shadows this time, but fleeting light.

Translucent folds drift with the air,
each layer a whisper of something about to fade.
Yet still, it lingers gently.

To wear is not to hold
but to let pass through,
to let dissolve,
and to leave only a trace.

These are clothes for the ephemeral:
the moment before bloom,
the breath before a word,
the light that vanishes as soon as it appears,
softly, lightly, quietly shining.
